Great Savings on Miramar Hotels!
Further to the west this area is home to some of the most expensive hotels, restaurants in Havana and the majority of the country's foreign embassies, the tree-lined avenues and stately mansions on and around Fifth Avenue suggest that this is where Havana's elite reside.
The area contains a few interesting museums, most notably the Museo del Ministerio del Interior which will be of interest to any one wanting to brush up on the antics of the cold war.
Pros!
Most of these hotels are located on the oceanfront although few have any sand on a beach. There are no true beach hotels in Havana. Miramar is the most affluent area in Havana, full of mansions and embassies. The scenery in this suburb is the best in Havana with tree lined streets and more open space. The area also offers plenty of good private and state run restaurants.
Cons?
There is not much to do in Miramar, this is mainly a residential neighborhood. The cab ride into town can set you back as much as $10.
