Great Savings on East Havana Beaches Hotels!
The East Havana Beaches, are located at a distance of about 20km from Havana. Along a wonderful stretch of beach of about 16 km long, you will find open sea, sand dunes and coconut palms, a stunning combination that can easily match Cuba’s most famous beach resort Varadero, some 100 km further on. The natural settings are pleasant enough, and there are a couple of resorts catering to tour groups. The area is also a favorite local families and is packed in July and August. The most lively part of the area is Guanabo, and old seaside town with a number of wooden bungalows built in the 1920’ and 1930s –looking like Key West conch houses, they are very popular with Cubans. The beach here is usually much livelier than almost anywhere else along this stretch of coast.
Pros!
It’s located at some 20 km north of Old Havana, allowing you to enjoy a beach holiday, while being only a short cab ride away from the cultural offerings and nightlife of bustling Old Havana. Most hotels have beachfront locations and overlook crystal clear waters.
Cons?
The area get crowded in the summer since this is a favorite beach among locals. At night there is not much to do in Playas de Este. The cab ride into town can set you back as much as $10. Based on prior experience, we rarely book our clients this far out of town.
